Mario Testino said of Kurkova, "The proportions of her body and her face, as well as her energy level, make her a model who could fit almost into any moment." Designer Marc Jacobs said, "She has an angelic look with a dark side, she's sweet and fun but looks like she could be an evil bewitching child." Vogue editor Anna Wintour called her the next supermodel.

Occupation: Writer

Gaskell was a Victorian author of novels dealing mostly with social issues in the industrial northern England - but she is also very well known for her biography on Charlotte Brontë, who was a close, personal friend.

Gaskell was born the youngest child of the civil servant, and former minister, William Stevenson, and his wife Elizabeth, née Holland. She had seven siblings - but only her older brother John and she would survive into adulthood. Her brother went missing in 1828 when travelling to India. Her mother died just three months after the birth of Gaskell and she was sent off to her maternal aunt Hannah Lumb in Knutsford, Cheshire. Gaskell was brought up as an unitarian and would remain one for the rest of her life.

Aged eleven she was sent to boarding-school, in Stratford-upon-Avon, and remained there until 1827. When she finished her education she returned home to her father, who by now was remarried and had two children by his new wife. But his health was failing and he died in 1829. Gaskell continued to live among relatives until she met the unitarian minister William Gaskell (born in 1805), whom she married on the 30 August 1832 in Knutsford. They moved to Manchester where William was made minister of the Cross Street Chapel.

The new surroundings would mean much to Gaskell, working as a minister's wife and taking care of the needing since the poverty was great in the city and social work was an important part of the couple's work-load. Gaskell also gave birth to six children: a still-born daughter (1833), Marianne (1834-1920), Margaret Emily (1837-1913), Florence Elizabeth (1842-1881), William (1844-1845) and Julia Bradford (1846-?). It was after the death of her son she began to write novels - though she had before that written poems (sometimes together with her husband) and short stories. Her first full-length novel was Mary Barton - A tale of Manchester life (1848), which painted a rather grim picture of the living conditions in an industrial town - something she knew quite a lot about first hand. The book was published anonymously, but her identity was soon discovered. Charles Dickens greatly approved of her writing and she became a contributor to his magazine Household words.

Her second novel Ruth (1853), which fought for the rights of unmarried mothers, caused a lot of controversy and she was criticized for her views on the topic. Her later fiction did not take on such hot topics, but could still portray the harsh reality for the poor - though they also showed a more genteel side of her which the public appreciated more. Among these works can be mentioned Cranford (1853) and North and South (1855).

Gaskell met the fellow writer Charlotte Brontë in 1850 and they became very good friends. After Brontë's death in 1855 her father and husband asked Gaskell to write a biography. She did a very thorough job of this, researching quite a lot - but also mixing fact with fiction. When The life of Charlotte Brontë hit the market in 1857 it was a great success (and meant a lot to make Brontë more famous), but Gaskell was soon criticized for it by people who did not like the way they were handled in the book. Brontë's father was not pleased either. The second edition was withdrawn, and it is the third edition that is now the standard text of that book.

Gaskell died in 1865 from heart-failure. She is buried in the graveyard at Knutsford. Her husband survived her until 1884 - and was then buried next to her.

So I'm researching schools and I finally decided to "let loose" and do the "un-asian" thing and major in Fashion-something, I'm really looking in Fashion Merchandising or being a Fashion Buyer. I'm currently looking at Blanche Macdonald and John Casablancas here in Vancouver. I got a call today from Blanche Macdonald and I'm going to be visiting the campus this Friday. I'm soooo freakin' excited.

Who else is going to school and taking fashion based courses? How is it? Fun?

I'm also planning to go to FIDM or Parsons to further my education in the future. If you guys have any advice or tips for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I know the fashion industry is competitive and doesn't have a whole lot of jobs but I know that I'm passionate enough about it that I'll be happy with any job in the fashion world.

ALSO : What should I wear ? I need to dress to impress! Haha, I'll probably wear my typical "uniform" of some sort of dress or skirt with tights and boots/heels with my zara coat.

Miller sued the Sun and News of the World over their publication of the intrusive snaps and career-damaging coverage of her relationship with Getty. The tabloids suggested Sienna was a home-wrecker and that she started seeing the father-of-four while he was still with his wife, Rosetta. The romance has obviously been a rough ride for the Factory Girl star and the unfortunate outcome for Miller is that it is over already.

Beyonce Knowles
Beyonce was not ready to marry Jay-Z when she was younger. She says in the December/January issue of Seventeen I was 18 when we first met, 19 when we first started dating.
Then she added I really don’t believe that you will love the same thing when you’re 20 as you do at 30. So that was my rule: Before the age of 25, I would never get married.I feel like you have to get to know yourself, know what you want, spend some time by yourself and be proud of who you are before you can share that with someone else.
They tie knot last April at his NYC apartment last April.
What makes her choose him I guess probably that were all human. I dont care if you’re picture-perfect on every magazine cover, and you’re the most handsome, successful, coolest guy - you still get sad, and you still get your feelings hurt, and you still get confused and vulnerable and nervous and scared.
You have to find a person you can make it through the tough times with.
Jay-Z is a lucky guy to have Beyonce as a partner. She is talented and pretty. Seldom people can date for so long before they are tie down. Well, it is good to understands each other character before you decided to marry that person. Love can be so complicated. People can always change.

To me, Halloween is an expression of creation and individuality. Halloween is a form of fashion. Its a day where you can walk out of your house looking like anything you want to look like. It is a freedom of design and expression. Though people do have this freedom everyday of their lives, Halloween enables some people to break out of and contradict what they would normally wear. People dont have to conform to society, they can look however they want and wouldnt have to have an explanation as to why they look the way they do. In my opinion, Halloween should be celebrated once a month because people enjoy dressing up to such a great extent. Halloween is inspiring to designers.
When I was a child one of the things that I liked most about Halloween was the thrill of receiving insane amounts of candy from trick-or-treating. I also loved to dress up. One year I was a Spice Girl and another year I was a princess. I had my mom sew me a sparkly tank top dress so I looked like my icon at the time, Baby Spice of The Spice Girls. When I was young Halloween was one of my favorite holidays and it still is, but I have more sincerity to the same reasoning. My favorite Halloween costume when I was younger was the Baby Spice costume because it was so perfect for me. It was one of a kind. Even if it wasnt Halloween I would randomly put it on throughout the year and wear it around my house. It was a fun dress. I took pleasure in the fact that my mom sewed it and that no other children had it.
This year most of my friends went out to buy their Halloween costumes. Instead of buying a costume for myself I cropped and sewed a t-shirt. I wore a mesh body suit, cat ears, and denim shorts with this cropped t-shirt. What I wore was inventive and unique. The costumes that are pre-made are for those with no imagination and sense of creation. I saw a vision in my mind for halloween this year to be a cat and I followed my vision without buying what everyone else would be wearing. Halloween is a holiday where one can express oneself and its hard to express oneself when youre wearing what any other teenager had the option to buy and wear.
Halloween is similar to a fashion runway. A designer can create anything that they wish to present on their runway. Though they want it to appeal to the people it could be whatever they want it to be. The clothing could be extremely dramatic like haute couture or it could be very simple and elegant. The creator of a Halloween costume is like the designer of a line of clothing. A designer does this job every day of the year, but the costume-creator only has the opportunity to do it once a year. I, myself, love to sketch and create new designs almost everyday. The job that person takes into hand for Halloween is what I do everyday. Even if it may not be as dramatic as some Halloween costumes I enjoy doing it because of the freedom it gives you. There is no limits to what you can sketch or create. It all depends on how hard youre willing to work to create what you have imagined.

When I meet the singer Roisin Murphy at a café after the House of Holland show at London Fashion Week, it's hard not to feel as comparatively uncool and drably dressed as a policeman at the Notting Hill carnival. She is wearing a pink and grey shard-patterned sweatshirt by Vivienne Westwood, and huge vintage Courrèges sunglasses, although this is actually quite a subtle look by her striking standards.

The catwalk shows might be where we get a glimpse of what le beau monde will be wearing next season, but the outfits people create to watch the shows have become as diverting as the collections themselves. This season, in New York, Paris, London and Milan, the former Moloko frontwoman-turned-solo artist was the one capturing style spotters' imaginations with a succession of looks that sealed her reputation as a fashion maverick, or as one impressed fashion blogger put it, "an arch kookster".

As buyers, journalists and celebrities spilled out of the London shows wearing various takes on the season's unofficial uniform of peg trousers, ankle boots and oversized blazers, Murphy always stood out. Her fashion-week ensembles included a cropped leather jacket with exaggerated, shaggy fur shoulders (made by one of Gareth Pugh's assistants, Gemma Slack), a cream draped dress by Topshop Unique and bowler hat by New York milliner Ellen Christine, a Charles Anastase sailor-style coat with Hermès beret and gold YSL postcard-effect bag, and a puffy red satin dress by Lanvin with Tudor shoulders and a feather headdress by Stephen Jones.

Outdone only by her friend Kabir, a stylist who memorably rocked a furry bear headdress at some of the shows, Murphy's approach to fashion is brave and experimental; the opposite of just picking up on the season's trends. Later on in the evening, after we meet, she models in Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief charity show, strutting down the catwalk in a Westwood outfit alongside Vivienne and her husband Andreas Kronthaler. The designer rang Murphy after meeting her at a party, to which the 35-year-old singer wore a "fabulous green taffeta Westwood gown, mixed with a Calvin Klein bomber jacket", and asked her to appear. "She has the softest hands I've ever shaken," says Murphy, her Irish accent muffled by very un-fashion week mouthfuls of pasta and tomato sauce.

Murphy's whirlwind, one-woman-fashion-week round of the shows is also "window shopping", for her current tour, which began yesterday and will include the Brixton Academy. She is famed for her adventurous stage and video outfits, and says, "I have the wardrobe on stage with me and I change for almost every song." Inspiration for recent live outfits came from a Martin Margiela ensemble she wore with a Philip Treacy hat in the video for "Let Me Know", from her second album, Overpowered, in which she dances around a diner.

Murphy explains, "It consists of a sheer white body suit and a skirt that becomes a cape at the back. It has big white pointy shoulders," she adds, "and they became a bit of a thing with me. The main element I loved was the body suit, which I wear with a pair of trousers on stage and it creates a kind of modular system which hats, coats, shoulder pieces, gloves etc can be layered on top of. It's a very ingenious idea even if I do say so myself!" Murphy adds that her stage outfits are essential to her performance, "not to hide behind, but to say something about the song, and to express more intensity through the music. There's also a lot of narrative in the songs, sometimes it's literal in "Checking Up On Me" I look over my glasses and strike a rock and roll pose and sometimes it's more abstract.

"For me to go on stage just wearing jeans and a T-shirt would be dishonest. It would be like me saying, 'Oh I'm just like everybody else, you don't have to be scared of me.' I think that for everyone who loves what I do there are people who are intimidated by it." Certainly outfits such as the Gareth Pugh ridged white dress (think Stormtrooper meets armadillo) she wore to the shows in Paris, shortly after it had appeared on the catwalk, are exhilaratingly unusual rather than conventionally flattering. Even aged nine she had an exhibitionist streak, as demonstrated by the time she "went up to town and got my long blonde hair shaved into a marine cut". When she came home her dad started crying, but she "loved it it was liberating".

Murphy attributes her love of clothes to her mum, whom she describes as a natural clothes horse. People in Dublin would approach her mum and ask for her autograph, mistaking her for Faye Dunaway (Murphy also bears a notable resemblance). The pair would go charity shopping together in posh areas of Manchester, where her family moved from Ireland when she was 12, and would snap up vintage Jaeger. She says, "If you can't afford designer labels, go to a charity shop and buy an old T-shirt because they only start to look good after 10 years. The whole thing of going to a high-street chain and buying a T-shirt in every colour just in case you might need it is incredibly wasteful. I think that idea has been forced down our throats a bit."

Away from fashion week and on the tour bus, doesn't Murphy ever feel the urge to sneakily pull on a tracksuit? It seems not. "I have two Margaret Howell plaid shirt dresses, they're my nighties," she says, "and I have Margiela mock cropped boots, they're my slippers. And I put my YSL mac on and that's my dressing gown. And if I'm really feeling rough I put sunglasses on as well. I have to think in terms of there might be fans waiting and I don't want to let them down." The sight of Murphy emerging from the tour bus in such an unremittingly stylish take on leisurewear is unlikely to disappoint.

The Kilt has been the target of many a joke and ribald comment for more years than it can probably remember! But is it fair for it to be the butt of so many jokes?

After all, not only is the Kilt a recognised fashion item in it's own right, it's also more importantly a world recognized symbol of a country and the fierce national pride contained within!

Many a soldier has shuddered and shaken in fear in centuries gone when faced with a Scottish Warrior, kilt swirling in steadfast defiance of normality, broadsword or other razor sharp lethal weapon cutting huge scythes in the air as he charged.

Indeed, many fields of war were won purely by the arrival of Scotsmen dressed in their traditional tartan kilts. To many, the knowledge that the wearer wore nothing underneath was cause enough to panic! Add to this the ferocity of such a warrior and not many would stand up in front of them.

But ever since those heady days of hand to hand combat and battles fought face to face, some of the mystery and folklore of the Kilt remains. Ideas that you can only wear a Tartan Kilt if you are a member of that clan still abide today, wrongly in many cases.

Maybe this stops some people wearing a kilt? Or does the fear of society's view of a man effectively wearing what many still describe as a skirt also play a strong part?

But then what of those men among us who are recognised as being the manliest of men? Does wearing a kilt reduce their appearance and reputation at all? Famous celebrities such as Sean Connery, Billy Connely, Ewan McGregor or Mel Gibson?

How many women did - and still would - swoon clean away to see Mel Gibson walking towards them, kilt swaying in time to his steps? I strongly suspect - most! It would not be a swoon induced by dislike or scorn neither, more of one where they're opinion has been enhanced as to the character and strength of the man involved.

I had the great pleasure of wearing a kilt many, many years ago when I was 6. The occasion was as a Page Boy for my Uncle and Aunts wedding. White ruffled shirt, red and blue tartan kilt with sporran and shoes. the only thing missing was the Dirk. For some reason never suitably explained by my parents, they seemed very nervous of letting their 6 year old offspring walk around with a small dagger shoved into the top of his sock! Spoilsports!

Even now, looking back at the old black and white photos - yes, it WAS that long ago - I get a thrill of seeing myself dressed like that.

Why?

Because it was different, unique and - dare I say it - I looked damn good! (I seem to remember it made a huge impression on my fellow official for the occasion, the bridesmaid called Candy, a curly blonde haired girl a year older than me. I have a misty memory of her asking her mom why i was wearing a skirt!)

A kilt nowadays plays a much larger part. Beyond the more well known kilts of Scotland with their heritage of history behind each unique Tartan design, comes the Kilts of Ireland and Wales in family crests or solid colors.

With society relaxing it's own strict and nonsensical ideas of what is right and what is wrong, more men are coming to wear kilts, enjoying the uniqueness and freedom such a garment gives.

It is now more common to attend company dinners, awards and opening nights and spot one or two men dressed in kilted splendour.

Indeed, a whole new industry is beginning to grow - assisted by the internet with it's ease of ordering and choosing - where new styles, designs and ideas of the traditional kilt are being tested and reworked.

For example, you can now buy kilts in camo pattern or kilts with pockets either side as opposed to the standard requirement for a sporran.

As for me and the kilt - as I get older and less worried about what other people think of me, the thoughts do stray to when I was 6 years old and how proud I felt dressed in such regal splendour. With the hot weather getting hotter each day a cooling breeze would certainly be more welcome as well!

Now then, where did I put that sporran and dirk.

The nihilist had yellow and blue sheets. Those colours are a tad bit optimistic for someone as cynical and draconian as he is, dont you think? This guy wanted to get into my pants but had a funny way of trying to get in there (of course he was unsuccessful). The story is a long one so let me first give you a cast of characters, then proceed with the adventures. Please note all names have been changed to protect the identities of those involved and myself, instead, I am referring to them by accurate descriptions. I decided to do this instead of referring to them as or because it reminds me too much of that show I dont like, Gossip Girl.
CAST:
Philosophical Lawyer (PL): a dude I was sort of, but not really, seeing. Lives in my city.
The Nihilist (Ni): PLs brother, lives in another city but works in the city I live in for a week then goes home.
The Left Wing Roommate (Lefty): Nis roommate
The Investment Banker (MBA): PL and Nis mutual friend,
visiting from another country

The Flaming gay guy (The Gay): The Investment Bankers brother
PR girl: A friend of a friend of these people who happens to work in PR
It all started when I ran into the PL at a coffee shop. I cant really explain this guy. Hes really cute and intelligent, but for some reason, I dont feel anything for him. I dont even know why we hang out either. I’ve tried to ignore him so many times, but I keep seeing him. Any way, we talked and he mentioned his brother living here for a week then going home so if I needed a place to stay when I was out of town, I could stay at his brothers place. I shrugged off the idea but after looking up some hotel prices, I decided to take him up on the offer. He asked his brother who promptly agreed and then we set up a meeting to pick up the keys. PL and I went to Ni’s hotel together, PL was touching me like he was my boyfriend, but hes never kissed me before so I was really confused. He also told me about some chick he was seeing. I really didn’t give a shit but I was thinking to myself, why are you touching me like that? In the room, I meet Ni who is tall and cute (but not cuter than PL). Small chit chat then Im out with the keys in my hands and instructions.
Thursday, I fly out to my destination, go whore my book around and get interviewed by a few places, then head to Nis apartment. Hell be back tomorrow night, so I decide to set up in his room. He called me when I asked him where some items were, he always sounds like hes turned on or something. I sleep under the yellow and blue sheets, not yet knowing he was a nihilist.
Friday, I head out early to my interviews and more book whoring. Home at around 5pm, I decide to clean a bit, two men live here the place is a mess. Ni calls, tells me hell be home soon and has a dancing lesson I am welcome to attend. 6pm, Ni comes in, gives me a warm hug and asks me how my day was. We head out to his dancing lesson. Ill be honest, I was bored and the whole time I was staring at this tall dude dancing and how his jeans were really tight around his crotch. I didnt like his jeans.
At home and Ni looks at my book and actually reads through the whole thing - no ones ever done that before, they just pretend to read. Hes almost done but realizes Im hungry so we go for dinner. This is where it gets interesting and the nihilism comes out. This guy is so cynical about everything - love, women, religion, food. Draconian is the only word I can use to describe his views. He kept saying he is not trying to impose them on anyone, but that was a lie. Whatever, I dont usually mind as long as my beliefs are respected but Ni was really not respectful of them. I kept my cool because I was staying at this guys house, but from then on, I realized how much that slight thought of me wanting to make out with him was totally gone at this point. PL is so much more understanding.
During dinner, Ni starts getting into his sexual history and how he still sleeps with his ex girlfriend who he dated for a year but never fell in love with. Interesting. He makes plans with friends to go to a nice club Ive always wanted to go to, I say okay.
When we went back home, I met Lefty, his roommate. Nice guy but PL told me he was cute. It seems PL has bad taste in men. Ni continues his dirty ways - he shows me a book about how to give a woman a proper orgasm, asks me if I looked at his porno collection laying on his desk (did not look there), and tries to log onto youporn and other porn websites but luckily the internet was down.
While I was standing in front of him, he talked about his porn addiction and then stops and to tell me that I am standing exactly where his girlfriend was when he ate her out for 3 hours. HOLY SHIT, THIS IS CREEPY. I leave the room and put together an outfit, while he decides to shower and walk around in a towel, purposely trying to make me stare. Then I change into a very nice outfit and he tells me how good I look, with that low “Im getting hard” type of voice Im creeped out by.
We head out and on our way there he asks me, three times, if I fucked his brother. Wow. I explained to him that his brother has only taken me out to dinner a few times and he claims that his brother isnt interested and was just being polite. Sure, because hed call me weekly and what kind of guy takes out a girl who is only his friend to expensive dinners on a weekly basis? And what kind of guy keeps calling even after this girl has not returned his calls in over a month? Thank you, point proven.
At the club, we get VIP treatment thanks to MBA who is there with The Gay and a few other ugly dudes. A bunch of bottles are on the table. Please note I dont drink so I keep sipping on pop and water all night. Everyone is drinking like mad and I dont think they realize how much they are ordering at this point. Its all men, Im the only woman and I really want some company right now because Ni keeps winking at me and giving me bedroom eyes. Not gonna happen dude. You couldve had a make out session (not turned on enough to go further) but you totally lost your chance at dinner. Finally PR girl and some girls show up. I dont really talk much with them because MBA was asking me a bunch of questions while we smoked cigarettes. Man, I smoked a lot. It means Im bored as hell. MBA is cute, but for someone who makes over 100Gs in a country without tax, cant you afford a wardrobe stylist to help you dress better?
Somehow I end up chatting with PR girl and telling her about my fashion career. Of course I get stupid questions, which I answer like I usually would. Then we start talking about PR and how Im sending my resume everywhere to get a job. She tells me to send it to her so I give her my card and tell her to email me. She likes my card, fuck yeah you better that thing is so creative I should be given a job on the basis of the idea!
Back to Ni who asks me questions like “who in this club would you fuck?” I laugh and look at him while smoking the shit out of my cigarette and whisper in his ear, no one. Then he asks me if I would fuck his brother. I laughed and said no, Id only make out with him. Then I bugged him with these stupid questions and he said hed do PR girl. I would personally paper bag her. Then some more annoying questions that led to me admitting I want to fuck my ex boyfriend because I never did. Part of me said that to get him off my back, part of me said that because it was true. Ni rubs my leg a few times and keeps winking. Is that supposed to work? Why are guys so weird? PL is so much hotter right now, still doesn’t make me want him.
Any way, insignificant shit happens and Ni ends up losing his graduation ring. Everyone is looking for it and hes panicking. “Why does a nihilist care for this material object?” I ask him, he says Im right and I mention my early flight so we decide to leave. The bill arrives, over $800 in drinks and everyone is looking at each other stunned that they didnt realize how much they were drinking. IDIOTS. Luckily I didn’t have to pay because I didn’t drink.
Ni and I are in a cab; hes talking about sex again. Hes totally trying to fuck me. I realized I didnt get to dance and Im really mad. We get home and he sits on the couch staring at me. I want to get out of my clothes, he of course hints that I should take them off. I start massaging my back and he decides to give me a massage. It feels good, but Im not getting turned on. Some ruckus is heard outside, it seems Lefty decided to come home after all and bring PR girl, MBA, Gay dude and the rest of the gang with him. The door swings open and there’s Ni on top of me giving me a massage. I pushed Ni off me and everyone was like “are we interrupting? We’ll leave!” We both said no, which was the truth; someone was trying but getting nowhere heheh.
So they bring in this huge (and I mean huge) pizza and everyone starts eating it these pieces that were the size of a small child. No one realizes what’s happening because they are so out of it and I am intoxicated from lacking sleep (I have insomnia). Everyone’s chatting and I decide to grab PR girl’s email. She gives it to me and says I’m so PR for having a little notebook with me. Yeah dude, I also want to be a copywriter so I write shit down. Any way, I did this because she was so drunk I think she left my card at the club and I really wanted her to help me out with my job hunt. Finally, more shit goes down and everyone decides to go home because MBA has to be on a flight at 6am. It’s 5am. I have to wake up in 3 hours.
Ni is back on the couch looking at me, he sets the futon for me and I go to change my clothes in the bathroom. I put my pajamas on and decide not to wear a bra because I can’t sleep in one – plus I wanted him to notice what he couldn’t have. As I was walking past Lefty’s room in the hallway, I see Lefty and Ni sniffing coke. Fantastic. What a way to end my night. I stare at him and nod in disapproval. Then he says “oh don’t think my brother doesn’t do it either.” I know this is untrue because PL has already told me he’s tried many things but has outgrown it (he’s older than Ni), I believe him because he’s honest. I personally don’t care what he does in life but I was mad at Ni for trying to make his brother look bad, or just as bad as him. Any way, I wish them goodnight and Ni comes to “tuck me in” by giving me a kiss on the cheek. Of course he kept staring at my chest. He said he’d wake up in the morning and I said don’t worry about it. I woke up 2 hours later, got ready and left. I was hoping PL wouldn’t call me but he did and I hesitated in picking up but I realized I needed to because he was working on a contract for my models to sign. I won’t mention what happened with Ni.

The assignment for my next photography module, model shooting! After learning the basic of the studiolighting, we are suppose to used all that for the model shooting. Shooting in the studio is divided into two different type of categories which are the high key and the low key. The other option is that you can shoot outdoor too. So I choose one photo to be shoot in studio and the other one on the outdoor. As for the model, I find one of my old classmates Stef Quah (elephant) for the role of the model. So I start the shooting during the raya break inside Atudio 3. So as usual, she was late for the shooting! In the beginning, there was already 6-7 lights ready, so I try to test the lighting first along with shooting some photo. After taking few pictures, I go over n ask Ah Hok, is this consider high key n any other area need to berepaired. He say the left side tone's color is not that great, so he bring over another 2 lights and ask me attached it again. Woah, I was like, 9 lights, wth.............. then I triedto shoot again, the tone do appeared more perfectly on both side. So I began with my first model shooting, shoot! shoot! shoot! ...................... By the way, I have to thank Shern Ai for helping Stef with the posing and other stuff, thank ya! And not to forget, I want to thank Stef Quah too for being my model, thank a lot ya.

View Larger Picture Photo: John McCain, Barack Obama Outline China Views Through AmCham-China.

The American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham-China) today announced in Beijing that US presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama have outlined their views on what US-China relations would be like under their respective administrations in articles written exclusively for AmCham. The articles, to be published in the October issue of AmCham-China's monthly magazine, China Brief, are believed to represent the first time the two candidates have publicly offered substantive details about their proposed China policies.
AmCham-China is a Beijing-based, non-profit organization representing the interests of some 2,700 companies and individuals doing business throughout China.
The articles outline the candidates' positions on a range of critical China-related business and policy issues facing the next US administration including trade balances, currency, security and the environment, as well as their thoughts on US competitiveness in the world economy.
"The fact that senators McCain and Obama chose to share their insights first with AmCham members is a testament to the chamber's reach and standing as an advocate for positive US-China business relations," said AmCham-China Chairman James Zimmerman. "We are encouraged to see both candidates call for further business development and more US engagement -- rather than isolationism -- in the years ahead. As a non-profit, non-partisan organization, AmCham-China looks forward to continuing good relations with the next administration."
Among many topics addressed, both candidates lay out clear indications of their views on trade.
For example, in his article Senator Obama writes that he will "undertake more sustained and serious efforts to combat intellectual property piracy in China, and to address regulations that discriminate against foreign investments in major sectors and other unfair trading practices." In addition, the senator pledges to work with China's leaders "to establish a better system for both countries to monitor products produced for export and act when dangerous products are identified."
Meanwhile, Senator McCain stresses China's obligations in improving bilateral trade relations. China's "commitment to open markets must include enforcement of international trade rules, protecting intellectual property, lowering manufacturing tariffs," he writes. "The next administration should be clear about where China needs to make progress, hold it to its commitments through enforcement at the World Trade Organization, and enforce US trade and product safety laws."

Soft, silky, shiny and pale shades- this is not an exception in any of the latest outfits and handbags that Giorgio Armani has designed for the Spring 2009 Collection. Of course, this is not the first time Armani has rocked the fashion world with his exquisite creations. But what is special in this collection is that, each and every piece is designed on pale base. You wouldn’t find a pinch of black, blood-red or dark blue used to highlight the style (as it is too common with the contemporary designers). It proves that lighter shades can be turned into stunning and gorgeous to rule the show.
I am not talking only about the dresses, but the handbags are also equally gorgeous to suit the atmosphere. These are all made out of softer materials. Well, shapes and sizes are not limited to a particular pattern, but exclusively designed to match the outfit. Peach, cream, white, lighter shades of violet, blue and sky are all the colors, Armani chooses this time, to vent his creativity. I think this collection is fabulous.

Fashion, In Santa Cruz

Last week I got to go to a real live fashion show, right here in Santa Cruz. It was a real treat, and I'm glad my friend Debbie encouraged me to attend with her. We splurged on the VIP tickets and got to go early to swill champagne and eat chocolate dipped strawberries for dinner (yum).

This is the 3rd annual Fashion Art Runway Show put on by Michaelangelo Gallery Art Studios, and it combines art, wearable art, high fashion and commercial fashion.
A real hodge-podge, whiplashing between the sublime concept and the mundane jeans and t-shirt look so often seen here in casual Santa Cruz. I wish I could credit each artist or designer but the program doesn't coherently list a description of each person's work. I figured out a couple though.

This is a picture that I just took of the beautiful sky from my back yard. I took it in honor of our mighty and awesome God. I had a different post ready for today, but just as I was about to publish it, I was compelled to give testimony of our God. He has had me tucked away in his bosom ever since April 29,1996 two days after the passing of my oldest daughter Kevina.

That evening I spoke with my daughter, she was in Talladega, Alabama visiting friends that were in school there. She told me that she would be leaving there shortly and we planned to go out to Wal-mart. Within the next hour I received a phone call from a lady who'd found my number in my daughter's cell phone. She stated that there had been in a terrible car accident and my daughter had been air lifted to Birmingham's Carraway Hospital. I tried to remain calm and optimistic, and I had a friend take me to the hospital. I went to the emergency room and told them I was the mother of the young girl that had been air lifted from Talladega. The nurse took me to a small waiting room and told me that she would get the doctor. I grabbed hold of her hand and asked her "why do I have to wait here, where is she, why can't you just take me to her or tell me how she is"? The nurse told me that she didn't make it, that she had suffered a severe head trauma. I let go of her hand and sat down. She went on to get the doctor. As I sat there I was seriously thinking okay what can I do? As I thought and thought I finally came to the realization that I could do nothing, and I literally screamed and slid to the floor crying uncontrollably. The doctor came in and explain that she was so severely injured that if she had lived she would had lived the life of a vegetable. He offered me a sedative but I decline. I did see her and had the hospital Chaplin to say a prayer for her.

After returning home a State Trooper came to house and told me the circumstances of the accident. She had been in a head on collision with a drunk, driving in an out of traffic on a two lane road trying to pass other cars until he drove head on into her car. This was during the time of the Talledega Races and some of the people thought it was fun to be drunk out of their minds, in the name of a good time. To this day the mention of these races bring back heartbreaking memories of that day.

Over the next few days the devil tauted me, he told me that my baby was alone, all by herself with no one and that I should kill myself so that I could be with her. He said there were relatives here to take care of my other kids. It actually became a thought. But my God who had already chosen me, stepped in (Glory be to God) and brought back to my remembrance a guy that I had deemed the Church Man.

Roughly about five years before her passing, I was working in Downtown Birmingham at the famous Newberry's Department Store. I used to catch the bus home from work, and one day this man that I sat next to began talking with me about the Lord and how to receive him. Something deep inside of me knew that the Lord was calling me but I wasn't ready to give up my sin, so I ran. For the couple of years to follow every time I saw the Church Man he would always tell me about the Lord, there were even times when I saw him I would miss my bus purposely to avoid him. Near the end I noticed that the Church Man's health was getting worse and worse, even to the fact that he could hardly walk but he held on to his God. (Thank you Jesus) but, I kept running.

About two years before her death I was no longer working downtown and had started to work for United Healthcare, there were times when I wondered about the Church Man and hoped that he was okay. I continued running though, and running, there was incident after incident that I knew the Lord was showing me his face and still I tried to get away. I thought I wasn't doing to bad, I had a good job and a new car, I was taking care of my kids all by myself, that I could do anything, until I was faced with the death of my child. It was then I realized that I could do nothing, I had done nothing, I was never ever going to do anything and take credit for it as long as I lived, because I have the ability to do nothing without God. I can't even blink my eyes without God. It was His grace, His goodness, and His mercy that carried me and my family.

So that next night after realizing this, and as I thought of what the Church Man had said about receiving God. I went into my room, shut the door, fell to my knees, and cried like a baby, thanking the Lord for all that he'd done in my life. Then I told him that I was so sorry for all the running and all the sin that was in my life and to forgive me that I was ready to give up everything for Him and to wash me clean in His blood.

At that moment a new calm came over me, I no longer had to worry about any of the stuff that I was so proud of doing for myself, I had found the way, the truth, and the life. It was all on Him. And as I said before I've been tucked away in His bosom ever since. Don't get me wrong I'm faced with the same triumphs and disappointments as everyone else but, it's sure is good to know that I have the Lord through them all.

Wednesday night, I found a lump in my left breast, I immediately went into prayer and sought prayer from others. My prayer was for mercy but, I had a certain peace about it, that comes only from God. My prayer was also that His will be done and I was willing to be used in anyway that would bring glorification to His name. Whether it be my life, or my death (to this world). That my life would glorify God as merciful, as a healer, and faithful to His word. I was in the doctors office on Thursday, and at the hospital on Monday for a sonogram and mammogram. The results came back and it was a cyst. All glory be to God!, His goodness and mercy endureth forever, he's faithful to his word, which is a promise to never leave us nor forsake us. All Praise And Thanks Unto His Name (Jesus) And This Is My Testimony Unto Him.

Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised; there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us nor forsake us:

That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgements, which he commanded our fathers.

And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the Lord, be nigh unto the Lord our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:

That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else.

Although seasonal, the thriving Indian Wedding Industry, estimated to be worth nearly Rs1,250 billion is getting bigger and fatter with every passing year. Come September, this sector is all set to grab its chunk of share from the market.

Held in Ahmedabad, the recent mega event, The Shaadi Festival, which ended on September 7, received the heavyweights of Indian wedding industry for exhibiting their products under one roof.

Organized by Red Events India Pvt Ltd, this extravaganza exhilarated wedding planners, fashion designers, make-up artists, jewellers, honeymoon planners, entertainers and everyone else involved in wedding industry. The event organized at The Grand Bhagwati hotel, was a visual treat for any couple who just walked in to have delight.

During the three day festival, a fashion show was organized by Manubhai Zaveri, a prominent jeweller in Ahmedabad.

The show hosted some of the biggies of fashion industry like Archana Kochar, Shyamal-Bhumika, Prriya Chintan and Rashmi. The brigade of fashion designers displays their exclusive wedding collection with a style and uniqueness. The models were looking stunning in bridal jewellery from Manubhai Zaveri.

Shyamal and Bhumika, basically from Ahmedabad, presented their bridal collection in this show. The duo looks upon the country whenever they have to design bridal attire. According to them, texture and tradition of India inspires them to design fabulous outfits. A bride should select a shade which is suitable to the ceremony. Shyamal said that, today people want to tie the knot in a princely manner, and therefore, special zardosi work and cuts have found a special place in brides wardrobe.

Archana Kochars collection has the quality to give a bride an individualistic look. Her passion for yellow and wine purple is quite evident in her bridal collection.

According to Archana, cuts and drapes are life and soul of any attire. For a lehenga, cut plays an important role. Just a five-and-half-metre sari is not enough to make any Indian bride beautiful, but one can try some innovative saris of great design.

Archana also lays emphasis on attitude as with out it jewellery and outfits are as ordinary as daylight. Another important thing is the weight of any attire; wear that you can bear, she laughs. For shades, she said, every hue is suitable to a person; only thing is that one needs to pick up a perfect shade.

For Rashmi, red and orange give a spark to Indian wear as red is for sindoor and orange is for abil (white powder used in Hindu rituals) which displays our tradition. According to Prriya Chintan, fashion is never out-dated; whatever one wears becomes a fashion.

In the end, a fabulous collection of jewellery was showcased by Manubhai Zaveri. Perfect jewellery with the perfect attire makes brides complete.

The high voltage event had an electrifying effect on the visiting couples who want to tie nuptial knot this season.

Bobbi Browns looks on the runway this fashion week seem to follow a similar patterna soft smoky eye in Spring-like colors. The only difference among them has really been the skin. She has sometimes opted for dewy or glowing and in the Brian Reyes runway show, she chose matte (my favorite).
I am completely loving the lip colors she has chosen at all of her shows. The best part is that the colors are wearable for me, which means I have some shopping to do!
Bobbis inspiration for this Spring 2009 makeup look:
“Brian Reyes’ Spring 2009 collection was inspired by the Ethiopian desert, so I created a complementary makeup look with matte textures and neutral, earthy tones. To give the skin an even, matte look I used concealer and stick foundation. On the eyes I played with texture, layering powder and cream shadows. To give the lips a nude, flat look I applied only foundation. A strong, rich brow – filled in with matte powder eye shadow and tousled with brow gel – completed the look.”
What have you thought about Bobbi Browns looks for Spring.
